The 1959 Impala saw major restyling.
It was stretched, and widened two inches and gained 150 lbs. The styling reflected the “batwing fins” and “cats-eye” taillights.
The Impala was now its own model and ascended to the top of the Chevrolets, where now the Bel Air became the mid-range.
The Impala also gained horsepower with the introduction into its power choices of a 315 hp Super Turbo-Thrust Special V8.
A total of 447,100 Impalas were produced.
